Default Solo Guide: The Deep

Hi there,

As promised, here's my Solo The Deep build. It came a little bit later then expected because of my trip to Rome. I haven't got far into The Deep since there's 1 group where I always die. Anyway, here's the build so far.
Link of the old thread can be find here

14/12/06 Update: Build can now be found on Wiki! Check it out Here

W/E

Attribute Points

Air Magic: 5
Strength: 9
Swordsmanship: 8
Tactics: 14

Skills:

Gale
Desperation Blow
Riposte
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Distracting Blow
Shield Stance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Equipment:

Longbow
Zealous Long sword of Fortitude/Defense
+45/-2 stance shield +30hp/-2 stance shield

Step 1:
Get into the Deep and take the right portal. Now lure the 2 Ripper Carps with your bow. Kill them using your Riposte, Gladiator's Defense and Desperation Blow. Make sure Dolyak Signet is always on. Start with Gladiator's Defense, Shield Stance, Gladiator's Defense, Dolyak, Shield Stance etc.

Step 2: When you've killed the 2 Ripper Carps, head to the Darkened Irukandji's. Watch the Restoration Spirit and disrupt the Darkened Irukandji's when they attempt to cast the spirit. (They will cast it when the spirit is gone)

Step 3: Kanaxai Aspect of Soothing Kill him with your attack skills. When he's taking 0 damage, use Gale to knock him down. This should happen 3-4 times.

Step 4: Run forward and you'll see a enormous group of mobs. Lure the group with no Smiting Monks in it and lure them back to the Gate. First kill the Ripper Carps. Make sure do disrupt their Shadow Refuge. After that, take out the 2 Darkened Irukandji's.

Step 5: Now take the second group with 3-4 Ripper Carps and 2 Smiting Monks. When they casted Balthazar's Aura on the Rippers, spam Healing Signet and you should survive.

Step 6: Here is where I died, I lured 2 groups by accident. I'll go back to the Deep later but I just bought NF and I've some excellent idea's about new farming builds

Take care!

2 questions,

what about using shock as opposed to gale?

and what armor would u suggest? i.e. armor with more energy, or more AL

thanks in advance

Shock and Gale are both good, you just need to knock the Kanaxai down About the armor, I've always used the gladiator's armor (armor with more energy) and it works fine.

You got to Complete the Story Part...
And if you are unlucky you need Favor of the Gods...

its the last area of nightfall. bunch of level 28 monsters that duplicate when they're at 1/4 health. It's very hard.

Even though it doesn't say it in the skill description, Meditation of the Reaper is a large scale AoE that can be avoided by keeping him in a corner of the map and running to the other side.
As for the Deep... have you tried a war/nec GB build with a hammer KD skill such as counter blow, hammer bash, or an enfeeble + heavy blow combo? (Switch to hammer from sword for KD only)

Just the parts i've shown, when you're past the group with the smiting monks it's much easier.

Dear A-Net,

Please change the Canthan Elite Missions so no Ferry or Taxi is required. Due to the fact that there are hardly enough people in a given town as it is, because we are spread over three chapters, getting to these Elite Missions is even more harder than it was. Sorrows Furnace requires no Guild to take you there, and Domain of Anguish will only require you to beet the game. Underworld and Fissure of Woe require a small fee, thats understandable and you make it back in one trip down there anyways. Also, Tombs does not require a fee, or favor of the Gods.

All I can see happening is The Deep and Urgoz Warren slowly being forgotten. It is 1:30pm eastern time, and I am in Cavalon American D1, there are 6 people in here. I'll log in later tonight before I do the Domain of Anguish, to see how many people there are in Cavalon, and hopefully get a Taxi.

Great build by the way, I hope someday I get to try it out.
